Laparoscopy For Infertility

This procedure allows us to determine the abnormalities of the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries whether there are any defects such as scar tissue, endometriosis, fibroid tumors, congenital abnormalities and polycystic ovaries and other.infertility

In some women the fallopian tubes are blocked. This can prevent sperm and egg from coming together, causing infertility. With laparoscopy, if any defects are found then they can sometimes be corrected with operative laparoscopy which involves placing instruments through ports in the scope and through additional, narrow (5 mm) ports.

What is Infertility ?

Infertility is an ailment of the reproductive system which is 30% of infertility can be attributed to male factors, and about 30% can be attributed to female factors.  In about infertility120% of cases infertility is unexplained, and the remaining 10% of infertility is caused by a combination of problems in both partners.

Infertility is defined as the incapability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term after 12 months of trying to conceive.  If you are over the age of 35, the time of trying to conceive is reduced to 6 months.  It is important to see a specialist, or a Reproductive Endocrinologist, or in some cases your  Gynaeclogist for a complete fertility work-up and diagnosis.
